In Memoriam of Mocha & Mochi...A Gift for Emma

A Memory Charm Necklace designed especially for Emma...
an Old Soul at Heart

"M & M" stands for Mocha & Mochi
Emma's 2 pet rats who recently passed away about 2 months apart
That's a lot for a kid to take don't you think?

A Heart Shaped Glass Vial containing the Ashes of Mocha

A Silver Toned Angel's Wing
symbolizing that they are
in Heaven

Emma's into Goth so I placed her Charm Necklace in
a drawstring pouch in her favorite color...
Black

(Note the pretty tin can in background, house Mocha's ashes in a plastic ziplock type bag )

A pretty gift for Emma

My GF's daughter Emma's 2 pet rats Mocha & Mochi passed away recently about 2 months apart. Mocha's little body was cremated and the mortuary placed them in a plastic bag and then into a pretty tin can which they placed into a pretty velvet bag with wording embroidered on front. Emma carries the velvet bag with the ashes tied to a stuffed white rat doll around in her back pack.

When I heard about her 2 pets passing and the ashes and her carrying them all around with her, I immediately thought about placing Some of the ashes into a glass vial for her so she could wear around her neck. After receiving the precious tin with ashes, I filled the tiny glass vial with a small portion of Mocha's ashes. I had to use a plastic spoon. My tinfoil funnel idea did not work. Ashes are gritty and dusty.

I decided that an angel's wing charm would be so appropriate as well as a little Fresh Water Pearl to symbolize purity and enlightenment. On a Sterling Silver Heart charm, I stamped the initials "M & M" for Mocha and Mochi.

All of this, I placed onto a Sterling Silver chain with a Sterling Silver Lobster clasp and Tab with Fresh Water Pearls at the back.

Emma's favorite colors are Black & White which is an interesting choice of fav colors for one so young but I heard she just decided her thing would be "goth" for a bit. So I placed her Memory Charm necklace in a Black pouch and then into a lauhala gift box which I then decorated. I wrote a little sentiment in a hand made gift card which I tied to the top.

Upon opening the gift, Emma called me and thanked me and said she really liked it. I was so glad. Now, she can wear a bit of Mocha and remember her 2 pets everyday when she wears this Memory Charm necklace. Just a little something to ease the pain of her pets' passing. I know it took me awhile to recover after my pet pooch passed away. While they are not here, they are never far away.

In Memoriam...

the Anniversary Edition

One year. One year never seems like a year. It sometimes feel like it goes really fast or it's really slow. We've been busy with Stacy's Etsy store and I've been expanding my cooking repertoire. It went really fast! (Oh, I forgot to introduce myself.) Hello, I'm Jimmy, Stacy's other half.

We just had our FIRST anniversary. One year of happy togetherness. Come with me for a little trip back to that day on July 8, 2007:

She amazes me every day. She made her own bouquet.
Thanks to many friends and family who helped with the arrangements.

It was a really nice day.
Beautiful sunshine and a great location for our ceremony.
If you come to Oahu, spend some time at the Halekulani Hotel.
Go for brunch at the water's edge.

The Happy Couple♥♥

Thanks to Gina & Mike Goldman of Pixoflife Photography. They did a great job capturing our wedding. We were able to see how everyone was enjoying themselves. See their website at pixoflife.com

Our slideshow is still on there...check out our wedding--click here on their blog. Ours is the 3rd couple down dated July 16, 2007. Click on Slideshow to see the awesome slideshow she created for our wedding.

BTW, the bridal jewelry that Stacy's wearing was designed and created by Stacy to match her Anne Namba custom made Kimono Obi bustier and silk skirt. The gold pendant necklace was my mother's wedding gift to Stacy which she was able to personally give to Stacy right before my mother passed away. Stacy added her own special touches of pearls to the chain so that it would match the rest of her bridal jewelry.

Bridal Party Custom Order of Vintage Chandelier Glass Earrings

boxed and ready to be shipped to Nikki

I just finished boxing these lovely vintage faceted glass chandelier pieces with fresh water pearls on sterling silver ear hooks. I added silk flowers to the cute boxes made especially for my terrific customer Nikki. She'll be pleasantly surprised when she opens up her special package.

each pair of earrings are in their own silk pouches
one of Nikki's wedding colors

These are the perfect earrings for a romantic wedding. This is from my "Something Old Something New" line. Vintage always adds a bit of the lovely past to a bride's bright and wonderful future with her future hubbie. So romantic.

Nikki ordered these lovelies for her entire bridal party. Lucky friends! She's so thoughtful. They're going to love them.

As other customers had already bought several, her order pretty much wiped out my collection of vintage pieces for the earrings. Luckily, I was able to find another source and they're on the way over the Pacific Ocean to little ole me in Hawaii. I'll have lots more to create these beauties.

vintage lovelies all ready to be packaged for gift giving

I'm planning to create some matching necklaces to go along with these earrings. They're going to be sooo pretty. I just know.

I've been doing a lot of custom orders and several from brides, Nikki being one of them. Working on these bridal pieces is especially "happy" work. I love packaging them for the brides to give away as gifts. Nikki's wedding colors are brown, cream, sage, and purple. Lovely colors which I was able to use in the packaging.

Tonite, I'm finishing up another bridal custom order. And I'm currently working with another bride on a custom order for matching pair of earrings and bracelet for her flower girl. How sweet.

I enjoy working with my customers to design a piece that will make them happy. Custom order involves communication back and forth between myself and my customer. Before I start on the actual piece, I will create a mock design and send photos for approval and provide a quote. After approval, I list the item in my shop reserved for that person. Upon full payment, I start working on the piece. All my customers who have ordered a custom piece have been sooo happy with their pieces. That makes me happy.

If you like my style, my "eye', then please check out my shop---Stacy's Designs 88
and (Update May 2009) my new Bridal Shop--- Blue Lovebirds. If you'd like a custom piece, feel free to Convo me.

UPDATE on Nikki's Wedding... If you want to see Gorgeous Pictures with Nikii wearing these exact same earrings, then please check out The Knot. Here's the Link --- Nikki & Blake.

Something Old, Something New---Vintage Up-do

I had purchased a lot of vintage chandelier pieces from a woman who had bought and used them to repair her chandelier. They're very pretty---faceted glass pieces which let's the sunlight shine thru without giving off that overly sparkly effect. Perfect for wedding jewelry. For brides who want the vintage glamor without going over the top.

I've created several earrings and a beautiful fresh water pearl vintage cuff bracelet. I'll be adding more to this collection as well as my other ones. This collection is very pretty. Please check it out for more details in my Etsy Shop---stacysdesigns88.etsy.com

Going International Baby!

Within the last week or so, I've had 4, count them 4, purchases of my jewelry by folks living outside of the USA or wanting their jewelry to be sent as a gift outside the USA. I think this is so mind blowing. I'm an international seller. I feel like when I was a kid and had pen pals outside of Hawaii. That was big time for me when I was a little kid. I remember one of my pen pals...she was a fellow Bay City Rollers fan with the tartan accessories and everything. Okay, I digress again. Now, as an adult this selling international is So exciting.

My first international sale was from a gal in Canada. The other was from London UK. Saturday, I had a very nice male customer who wanted his jewelry to be sent to his friend in Columbia as a gift. So, I even included a card with the gift with his sentiments on them---like what florists do when they send a gift of flowers and a card. Too Cute! Sunday, I had a special request from a super nice gal whose daughter is going to have her 1st Holy Communion next month and will wear my jewelry on her special day. I feel so honored. She purchased a custom order of my matching "Simply" necklace and earrings set. She's from Ireland. As another digression, I'm finishing up Maeve Binchy's book "Whitehorn Woods" which is another winner for her and is set in Ireland---read it, you'll love it. Love her little vignettes of her character's lives.

Anyhoo, check out the photo of the newest custom listing which I'll mail out to my Ireland customer tomorrow, Monday April 21st. I have a similar pair of the "Simple" earrings in my Etsy shop.

Miss Batch--Adorn Magazines Editor in Chief "Hearted" My Etsy Shop

A little while ago, Adorn Magazine's Editor-in-Chief "Hearted" my Etsy shop as one of her Favorites. I'm so honored and excited! That's something that someone of Miss Batch's caliber has picked me as one of her favorite Etsy shops.

Just wanted to crow about this one b/c I'm so proud.

Here's what the Adorn Magazine looks like. I tried to buy one from our Barnes & Noble at Ala Moana Shopping Center in Honolulu but they were all out. I have to check back in with them in a bit to see if the new magazine came in. (Oops...sorry, the pic is NO longer available as of 7/09)

My Etsy Funk is Over...for now

I only started adding to my blog yesterday. Why? I've been MIA because I was in an Etsy funk. Nothing was selling in my shop and I was thinking "why?" and driving myself crazy like a loony person thinking all sort of crazy thoughts spinning in my head.

I kept putting new creations in my shop. And at times I felt like I was "chasing" a sale---making things that "others" might like but not necessarily my normal "style" that I sell. Like my Understated Beauty line. Which while I never really made "simple and understated" pieces to sell to my friends and customers in Hawaii, I actually did create "simple" pieces for myself to wear on a daily basis. You know, that "throw it on and wear it with anything" kind of pretty yet uncomplicated jewelry. I just never thought that my customers in Hawaii who normally buy from me would want something like this.

Then I realized that you can either have a whole bunch of the same look in your store or you can change it up and try to attract different markets. It's not necessarily "chasing", it's running a business. But, after couple weeks, I didn't think that my Understated Beauty line was striking a cord in anyone b/c nothing was moving at all.

Until this Saturday and then boom, boom--2 sales both outside USA---one from Canada, the other from England. Wow! Had to learn how to fill out those International forms and then stand in line at the post office to mail them to foreign lands. The 2 gals bought necklaces from my Understated Beauty line. So, I decided to forge on and create more simple but elegant, wear everyday and any occasion jewelry.

Here's some of my newest creations that I made using my fav pearls---Keshi pearls. I love these pearls that I picked up at the Tucson trade show this year b/c they have such a beautiful nacre and luster to them---love the color...creamy rosey color. Keshi pearls cost me a pretty penny (vs. the cost of your standard fresh water pearls) but totally worth it. They remind me of dainty rose petals. No two are alike which makes them all that more special. Check out my Etsy Shop for all my creations---I've made quite a few newbies.
