A Lovely Event in Makiki with WildTree Reps

The lovely Makiki home...our event site.

Normally, when I agree to do an event showing my jewelry, I go in with no expectations. I just cross my fingers and hope that there will be some people who will like and appreciate my type of jewelry. It's a very hit or miss thing. Lucky for me and my friends, this event in the beginning part of May which was held at a beautiful home in Makiki on the island of Oahu was both fun filled and successful for all of us.

I was invited to join an event hosted by representatives of WildTree. I had no idea what WildTree was all about but was told that they were going to serve a lotttttt of great food. Ok, I'm in. Who can turn down free GreAt food?

Dawn gave me a great table in a prime spot.
Thanks Dawn!

The gal in charge Dawn sent us the list of yummies they were going to prepare using the Wildtree products. Here's the menu: salad, veggie platter, pasta bar with basil pesto chicken, spaghetti sauce, or scampi blends; pumpkin bread / pumpkin cheesecake blend, pound cake / chocolate mousse supreme, garlic & herb dip, spinach artichoke & parmesan spread, rockin' red bell pepper spread as well as lemonade, chai tea, and coffee. OMG! Who can resist. Gotta try out all this food, right, right?

Dawn is one of the first, if not thee first, Oahu Rep for Wildtree. The other reps there told me that she researched Wildtree, signed up, and then recruited her fellow co-workers and friends. I can see why they agreed to enlist. Dawn has so much positive energy and is so personable and is truly a friendly person. All the best qualities for a terrific direct sales rep. I know that she and her gang will go far.

What Wildtree food items did I get? I purchased the roasted garlic grapeseed oil and the Scampi mix which tasted so fab. My GF Melissa kept asking "Is there Butter in this? Is there Butter in This?" We were eating a toasted bruchette with the grapeseed oil and scampi mix brushed on. And "yes", it really tastes like there is butter in it. So rich and delish. But "NO", there is No butter in it, only healthy for you Grapeseed oil. I've never eaten grapeseed oil so this was a first and it was terrific.

The people that attended this wonderful spread were the most delightful and friendly people---both the guests and the Wildtree Reps. Several lucky people won door prizes of gift baskets filled with Wildtree food products.

I really enjoyed myself as I had the opportunity to speak to most of the gals looking at my jewelry. Doing mostly online selling has it's drawbacks. One being no human contact and no direct feedback from those looking at your creations. But here, the gals were pointing out the pieces that they liked and they were all pointing to different pieces.

The majority of my jewelry is One-of-A-Kind. I like creating new pieces and I'm always playing with my beads to come up with a new design which is different from the others. The fact that these women were appreciating different pieces made me happy.

The custom order-fresh water pearls in flower design.

And, several people--both guests and Wildtree Reps---bought my jewelry. I even had a special order for a matching pendant to match the fresh water pearl earrings shaped as flowers that one terrific customer had bought. She fell in love with the earrings and her favorite color is GreeN! She wanted to wear a matching set so I made her one and delivered it to her the next day.

Such a beautiful house!

My other friends, Liz and Melissa, of Touch Mini Day Spa were doing both eyebrow waxing and a mini makeovers to promote their shop at this event. You can contact them at #808-732-5456...call them for an appointment for the greatest eyebrow and lip waxing and facials around. Many women were lining up for their services. Everyone was having fun kicking back and relaxing.

This event was fun! It was one of my more enjoyable selling experiences and I loved the site. There was a lot of laughter and lots of smiles. What a pleasant way to spend the weekend with friends.

Lesson Learned Today---Don't Take a Famous Dead Author's Name in Vain--aka Don't Name Your $20 Pair of Earrings After Him---By Him I Mean Dr. Seuss

Looked at Majaba View Counter to check out the views on my shop and saw that I was less 1 item. Yayyyy! This means someone bought something. Do do do do...click on my email to check out which one got sold. EEEEEEeeeeeekkkkkk! Got an email from Etsy--2 exactly---that they inactivated 1 of my earrings b/c I named it "Dr. Seuss No. 2" and they actually received an email from Dr. Seuss Corp's attorney. Yikes! They were complaining about my use of "Dr. Seuss" as my earrings name. So, Etsy inactivated it. I wasn't really scared sXXtless b/c I thought "wow, such fuss over a $20 pair of earrings". (See photo above---the infamous pair of earrings)

Do do do do...I started a new listing and renamed the formerly known as "Dr. Seuss No. 2" earrings to "Candies Forever No. 2". I was contemplating renaming them "Candy Land" but thought against doing that. God forbid Hasbro or whatever company owns Candy Land were to complain. Then, I renamed my new earrings "Cindy Crawford's Mole" to "Looks like Cindy Crawford's Mole". God forbid Hollywood comes after me and I end up on E Entertainment with Cindy crying into the camera with the Cat in the Hat (anime style) hugging her and providing her with moral support. Egads!

Wow, how did they find out about my little ole pair of earrings? Does this mean there's an attorney or attorneys or their sidekicks, aka paralegals, doing Google searches everyday looking for any innocent harmless soul who unwittingly and unknowingly takes the name of Dr. Seuss in vain? And then sends out a letter to cease and desist? Wow! I didnt' know that I hit the big time.

Oh well, lessoned learned. Here's some photos of my now renamed "Candies Forever" line (formerly "Dr. Seuss"). If anyone can come up with a better name, please...I'm open to suggestions. What about "Seussy Baboosy"? Agh, that might get me into trouble again.

Update: Wednesday, April 30, 2008 4:45pm Hawaii time
Guess what! I just checked my computer and looked at my shop and discovered that some male new customer just bought (I'm assuming it's a gift and paid via Paypal) one of the formerly known as "Dr. Seuss No. 4", now known as "Candies Forever No. 4". OMG, I think I have not only a parking fairy (that's a whole 'nother story) but I have a jewelry fairy too. Yayyy! Bythe way, the earrings that was just purchased are the ones below with the pink large vintage lucite beads and green vintage flowers. ;)

New Designs for Spring--Understated Beauty

I just recently created some jewelry which can be worn everyday and for every occasion. How great is that? I call it my Understated Beauty collection. These charming and pretty pieces are created for those times when you just want to wear something which will be pretty but not bold. I like to wear these when I go to the neighborhood store, have dinner in town, meet friends for lunch, go to work, go to a party...you get the idea. They are that simple, easy, and cute to wear. These would also be perfect for your bridal party to wear at your wedding. It will accentuate your bridesmaids' dresses without overpowering them. Understated Beauty. ;)

My New Vintage Charm Necklaces

I just posted my new vintage charm necklaces in my shop. Recently, I received in the mail my newest acquisition---vintage rhinestones! I'm a closet "Cottage Style" wanna be. I don't think they'll let me join :( b/c I don't think I have 75% vintage pieces---which is one qualification for being allowed to join their group. That's why I love my Create A Day group b/c there are no rules!...except trying to create something everyday. Ok, I'm digressing. I love these new charm necklaces b/c that vintage rhinestone adds that touch of bling that I adore. There's also some cute charms on each--a little angel on one and an engagement or wedding ring on the other.

New Batch of Little "Thank You" Cards

Last night, I decided to whip up a batch of new little "Thank You" cards which I use a lot. I was inspired with the colors and designs of Amy Butler who is known for

her wonderful fabric designs. I thought her paper would be just the perfect thing to "prettify" my cards. Also, my new kraft jewelry boxes just arrived. To match the cards, I decorated the tops of the little jewelry boxes with matching paper. I think they came out pretty darn cute. I know my customers are going to love them. Yayyy! ;)

My First Treasury West featuring Teriffic Etsians!

Here it is. My very first Etsy Treasury West entitled "So Pretty So Cute" (click to check it out). The treasuries are created by Etsians (both buyers and sellers) and highlight other fellow Etsians creations. I've included many Etsians who belong to the Create-A-Day blog (click to check the blog out) of which I'm a new member. The Create-A-Day Etsians in my Treasury are Kimbuktu, Sheasy, Tiffany Teske, Aussie Patches, Auntie Dis, Robayre, Julia Catherine, JulieBCreative, Myhools, and Joonbeam.

How'd I do it? I read about it a lot in the Etsy Forums. Then, last week I was lucky enough to be included in two Treasuries (see below). So, I decided that I was going to try my hand at it and practiced using the Treasury program. On Sunday, while cruising thru Treasury West, all of a sudden a box for a title popped up----just like everyone said it would. I couldn't believe it at first and thought I was imagining it. But then I started frantically going thru my practice list and started inputting. It was EASY PEASY. If a 40 something gal can do it, you can do it. Try it, it's fun.

Anyway, I'm so happy that I was able to create a pretty Treasury using creations by my new gal pals from Create-A-Day. I'm looking forward to doing my next one. I've already started saving Favorites so when that box pops up again I know exactly what I'll do. ;)

Oh, my God----I'm in 2 Etsy Treasuries!

I've never been in an Etsy Treasury before...or at least I never knew about it. Anyway, today I just found out that I'm in 2!

An Etsy Treasury is a collage of different Etsy artisans photos of their works which are taken from their shops. Anyone can create a Treasury but it takes alot of patience and luck b/c only 333 Treasuries can be online at once. So you have to wait for one to expire and be there at the perfect time and be lucky enough to get the spot. I've never done a Treasury before but I think I'll try to do one or two...

I'm in both Kimbuktu's beautiful Treasury composed of fellow artisans from the Create-A-Day blog (click the red) of which I'm a new member. Kimbuktu's Treasury is called Joy Comes in the Morning (click the red) It is a collection of different fabrics. She chose to add in my Lavender Sachets. Thanks Kim!

I don't normally check out the Treasury b/c I've been religiously trying to perfect my picture taking, create new jewelry, add to the blogs, aka ---I'm normally overextended as it is.

Anyway, just out of curiousity, I was cruising thru the Treasury tonite. I discovered to my delight that I was in a 2nd Treasury entitled Blold (click the red) This was done by Jonatolengo who is someone I don't know but hey, I can use more friends! He chose to add in my cute pair of earrings called "Samantha". Thanks Jona!

This is a great ego booster b/c just this week I started wondering if the people out their in Etsy world liked my creations. As an Etsy newbie, I'm still learning the ropes and the slow sales is sometimes disheartening. But being chosen to be in 2 Treasuries helped my confidence---for sure!

New member of "createaday.blogspot.com"

I just joined an awesome blog site called "Create-A-Day" which is comprised of other fellow Etsy artisans of various crafts. They're all awesome. Go and check it out for yourself at createaday.blogspot.com. You can see all the terrific pieces that they've completed that day. The goal is to try to create something everyday. What a great concept! It's the creation of enigmachck of enigmachck.etsy.com.

Well, here's a brand spanking new Vintage necklace that I created yesterday. It took me awhile because I had to play with the lengths of each of the 4 different chains and then wirewrap (and re-wirewrap) pretty pale pink quartz, lovely fresh water pearls in white, rose pink, and chartreuse, and vintage blue and pink beads to the chains. But, it was a labor of love. I'm proud of this baby. I've already posted it on my Etsy shop. Just couldn't wait. Please check it out at stacysdesigns88.etsy.com

By the way, the necklace that I posted on February 28, 2008 (below) just sold this week! Yayyy!

One-of-a-Kind Jewelry for Weddings & Brides

I was looking at all the different types of bridal jewelry and decided that there was a need for some pretty and one-of-a-kind designs.

Last year when I was shopping for my bridal wear, most of the jewelry for both the bride and her bridal party looked all the same. I designed my own bridal jewelry using the necklace that my husband's late mother had given me right before she passed away. It turned out to be very beautiful. It really matched my one-of-a-kind wedding gown made by Hawaii's own Asian themed designer Anne Namba.

I know there are those brides who want something very simple. However, there are many brides nowadays who want to stand out from the crowd and look elegant and one-of-a-kind. I'm going to start a line of bridal jewelry to fit that niche. Of course, I will also create pieces for those that want to wear just a little something something.

Here's a new piece (see above photo) that I've been working on to give you a taste of the things to come. I made this before and a friend bought it. It takes awhile to create this because everything, and I mean everything, is done by hand. Once it's completed, I will put it in my Etsy shop.

If you know any brides, please tell them about my Etsy Shop---stacysdesigns88.etsy.com
I really appreciate all your referrals.

Please leave a comment about your opinion on my newest creation.

Thanks ;)

Update: 10:35pm Wednesday 3/5/08---I finished the necklace. Please take a look in my Esty Shop

Taking Photos

Day 2----Fussing with Photos

Think positive thoughts...think positive thoughts...think posit----oh heXX! I must admit that I'm an impatient photographer who doesn't have a real light box with those cool little lights. I got up at 7:40am to take some photos using the early morning lite and who knows if the photos will come out good. It's kinda overcast today. On my camera's screen, it looks kinda dark. Now, I gotta do Photoshop and clean it all up. Welcome to the world of selling on the internet.

I'm going to save this post and Photoshop some photos and then post them. You all can be the judge. [Time out.]

Okay, here it is the photo above. Took it this morning. I definitely think I have to start using lights to cut the gray background and add hi-lites. Ohh boy.

The ongoing saga of the crazed shop owner...check back. By the by, my shop can be found here: stacysdesigns88.etsy.com

Please stop by my shop and have fun!

Stacy
