Shimazu Store...located at 330 North School Street

Go to Shimazu's at 330 North School Street just past Nuuanu, heading towards Foodland on Liliha Street. This place has the BEST Shaved Ice on Oahu. Hands Down! Their portions are Humongous. Their flavors are Unique, Delicious, and on the Cutting Edge. The prices are Terrific. Talk about getting More than your Monies worth. Just remember to bring an umbrella and something to read or music to listen to while you wait.

Parking: You have to park down the street and street parking is slim pickings. We parked "near" Foodland. A sign in the shop said you can park behind the Antique store in marked stalls.

The Wait: well worth it but it can be kinda long and pretty hot. We waited for about 20 to 30 minutes before we got our shaved ice. Next time, we're bringing umbrellas and I'm bringing a book to read.

The Shaved Ice: Super super fine. Just like Matsumotos and Waiola.

The Size: A Large is Humongous. Next time, I'm just going to get the Small. But, if I'm super parched, I'll get the Large again. I wonder what the Extra Large looks like? Hmmm, maybe if we have 4 people, we can try it. I wonder if it comes in a big pot or something. Sorta like Farrell's birthday ice cream that they had scoooped into that big pot and ran around like crazy people around the shop before they put it on your table.

The Price: Very Reasonable. Worth the price. More for the Money.

The Flavors: Cutting Edge flavors. They have the old run of the mill favorites that Waiola and Matsumotos have. But, they have a list of their New flavors like Red Velvet Cream, a Peanut Butter and Chocolate, and some others. Their regular Flavor list has unique flavors on it also. And the flavors are Pure and Delicious. The Red Velvet actually tasted like a Red Velvet Cupcake with the frosting!


Now, I don't have to look any further for Excellent Shaved Ice. It's right in my neighborhood. Yayyy!

I've wanted to use this lovely Japanese Lantern stencil for the longest time. I'm so happy I bought them. Using my Pearlescent Chalks in Jewel Tones by Pebbles Inc. and my handy dandy VersaMark Watermark Stamp Pad, I got to work on this Thank You card to my dear friend Bri.

After laying down my stencil on my cardstock, I filled in the stencil with a Q-tipped filled with VersaMark. Then, I loaded up another Q-tip with chalk color of my choice and went back and colored in the different areas. I used several different colors on different Q-tips. Just go in and fill in here and there. Go back with another color and fill in the other areas. At the end, you can use a Q-tip to lightly go over and blend in the colors. It's super fast and super EZ. It's like putting on eyeshadow. The water color effect is terrific! Have fun.

The Simpsons...what has our society become where the Simpsons have made it to the stamps?

My good friend Joon just blogged about buying stamps online via the USPS website. I never thought of doing that. What a great tip!

So, I checked it out and lo and behold...there are Hawaii Statehood stamps. Ok, I don't normally go into the post office to buy stamps bc Jimmy does it. So, I didn't know these were available.

But, as Joon blogged, the post office never seems to have the stamps you want available so she just buys them online. How neat and what a time saver!

What I have noticed is that the quality of stamp designs for the First Class postage 44 cents stamps has sure gone down the tubes. I mean when the Simpsons have their own stamps, what does that mean? ...no offense to the Simpsons fans.

Jimmy and I headed down to the McCoy Pavilion at Ala Moana Beach Park to check out the festivities and eat some Greek food. Yummy! Too bad they ran out of food around 6:30pmish. But lucky us, we were able to get a plate to eat.
